Trimstone News

Dear Trimstone Manor Friend

News!

We hope that you had a great Easter!  We’re settling-in well at Trimstone, our new home too and looking forward to meeting all Trimstone’s old and regular guests and new as well so make sure you can you come and visit us!  This is us:

Well, we are ready to welcome residents to our self-catering and ‘outside’ rooms from Monday when our lovely indoor Pool will be all ready and waiting!  It is sure going to be a busy year and we’re looking forward to it!

Don’t forget too that non-residents can come and sit outside from Monday!  We’ve readied the benches and cut the lawns so everything’s set and it just needs you!

The bar’s stocked, the Wine List primed and ready and most importantly, this year we’re offering great food as well!  Of course you can only dine outside (from Monday) but it will be our pleasure to serve you.  We offer full evening service and a choice of dishes, from simple mains and grills (there’s always a choice steak available!) to three courses if you wish and also sandwiches and light bites during the day, with full breakfast options for the early risers of course!

Here’s a sample:

  • Creamy Garlic Mushrooms in a Crème Fraiche sauce served on toasted bread – £5.75 VG|GF|OR
  • Bowl of Mussels in either white wine or chilli sauce with skin-on fries and warm bread – £14.50 GF|OR
  • Trimstone Mediterranean Vegetable Tarte served with new potatoes salad and pickle – £10.25 VG
  • 10oz local Sirloin Steak cooked to your liking served with grilled tomato, mushrooms and skin-on fries – £18.95 & add a sauce for £1.95 GF
  • Trimstone Burger, 8oz Burger in a floured bap with tomato, bacon and cheese served with skin-on fries and coleslaw – £12.95 GF|OR
  • Trimstone Spicy Bean Burger in a floured bun with Roasted Peppers served with skin-on fries and coleslaw – £12.95 VG|GF|OR
  • Chef’s Crumble of the Day served with custard – £6.25 VG

Don’t forget our renowned Cream Teas too – all at last year’s prices (and formal Afternoon High Teas as well but you need to pre-order these).  If you want to come and enjoy a bite and to simply see the menagerie of poultry (we have some new chicks to put out soon too!) or to enjoy Albert the Peacock’s display (probably begging a crust from you!) , or to say hello to the Emus… you can stay and enjoy yourselves in the grounds for as long as you like – it really is beautiful here at the moment.  We are really spoilt!  You can even work if you want – there’s great Wi-Fi after all too!

At some point (when we are allowed) we shall be offering Sunday Roasts in the Restaurant as well; we had to sample one of course to check out the kitchen, naturally and here are some pictures!

Accommodation

Things are filling fast… the cottages are pretty much full already for the peak summer but always give us a call to enquire as we’ll do our best to help you somehow, even if it is using bedroom suites in the Hotel if we can – that worked really well for a number of guests last year.  We haven’t done the same as lots of places seem to be doing too which is ratcheting-up prices – People will remember if they have been stung somewhere else.  We want you to love us and that you’ll want to come back, after all!  Please book direct with us too.  We can usually offer you superior prices than are available through any of the online agencies which all charge extortionate commissions so don’t let them tell you any different!  They aren’t the ‘cheapest’ at all!

Butterfly Conservation

Readers will know that Trimstone has hosted several Moth events here and the owners have kindly donated a two-night stay to Butterfly Conservation’s latest fund raising event. See:- https://givergy.uk/ButterflyConservation/?controller=lots&action=showLot&id=85.  There are all types of other lovely items in their auction which finishes very soon!  We realise we are spoilt with special nature areas around us and where nationally important ranges of butterflies and moths can be found, ranging from world-renowned Braunton Burrows (did you know that of all plant species in the UK, half can be found there?) to Exmoor and only a short hop to Lundy Island too.

What to do?

Here is a list of what’s available in the Ilfracombe area, food-wise (aside from us of course which you must try first!) and activities! http://www.ilfracombefocus.co.uk/page23.html

The Fastest Wi-Fi

We have the fastest holiday accommodation Wi-Fi in the whole area, fully fibre-optic and direct to the local Exchange.  It will be so important (and for those still working we always do our best to make somewhere available if you need to be away from your cottage/room) again and we know it will be a special reason why people book with us now.  From September speeds will increase again – a gigabyte per second, so how’s that!  Trimstone believes in free Wi-Fi. Holidaymakers need good internet.  For entertainment – or for children, it is important and we have no access restrictions on broadband width either!

This is not only for tourists but for business.  Wi-Fi and mobile signals nearby are still poor (check first before you stay elsewhere!) so no frustration here.  We shall also be open for conference facilities too when we can, so imagine streaming presentations – no interruptions or slow speeds – plus reliability and delegates having great Wi-Fi.   This is encouraging more bookings (even out of season for those escaping for work projects, to enjoy the surroundings too).

So come, stay and see.  Average Broadband download speeds in the UK are 46.2mbps and upload speeds of 6.2mbps. Trimstone’s is 300Mbps download and 30mbps upload.  This means you can download an Ultra HD film (70 GB) in 31 minutes compared to 3.24 hours on the average speed.

Looking forward to meeting you sometime!

Our best wishes
